Sancipriano first entered the art scene in 2010 as a documentary photographer; his early work includes stories from Morocco, Russia, Mongolia and Palestine. Since then, he has deepened his studies in contemporary visual art through courses and workshops across Europe, with a focus on the relationship between art and science.
In parallel, he earned a degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2019, which allowed him to work for multiple non-profit organisations in the field of international cooperation. Through this work, he gained direct experience of the importance of contemporary art as a communication tool in sensitive scenarios and themes, where conventional narratives are often distorted.
Currently, he works as a cardiac surgeon while simultaneously undertaking various visual art projects focused on the intersection between contemporary art and significant themes such as migration, public health and ocean pollution.
In pursuit of further academic studies combining medicine, activism, and artistic practice, he has been offered a full scholarship for an MFA in Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
As he awaits the completion of his surgical studies in Italy to pursue his academic journey in art, he co-founded MICAA, the first institution in Europe exclusively dedicated to artistic activism.
Despite facing a fair amount of sleep deprivation and dark circles under his eyes, he continues to champion the potential of art and its interdisciplinarity. He still believes in change.
